There are five bowler-imparted
components of a thrown bowling ball - direction, speed, revolutions,
axis rotation and axis tilt - and how we combine these components
defines our style as a bowler. However, we all do not execute every
delivery component with the same precision. We each posses a unique
set of tendencies that consist of occasional errors for some, but not
all, of these delivery components; and it’s these subtle differences
that can make a certain ball forgiving and more readable for one
bowler but not another. Throbot, which can mimic any bowler’s
delivery, can generate data showing which dynamic characteristics
create the most forgiving ball for each possible error (miss left,
miss right, throw faster, throw slower, etc). If you’ve logged CATS
time and know your error tendencies, perhaps that forgiveness data -
if it were available to you - could reveal what dynamics would make
the highest scoring, most forgiving balls for you.
